Sumter County deputies have been patrolling along the Withlacoochee River, monitoring river water levels. Large amounts of rain and flood conditions are anticipated along the Withlacoochee River. Deputies will continue to patrol as storm conditions allow.
Should anyone need assistance, call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) at 352-793-2621. If unable to communicate through traditional methods and require assistance, hang a brightly colored t-shirt or a piece of visible cloth in your front yard or from doorways that will be visible from roads and waterways. Deputies patrolling these areas will be on the lookout for homes that have displayed these distress signals.
