The Wildwood Police Department is introducing a program to its citizens known as Vial of Life.
According to Chief Randall Parmer, “The Vial of Life is a program designed to provide needed information to the emergency personnel in the situation where you are unable to do so. The information provided by the Vial will include medical history, medications, dosage, doctor’s name, insurance provider (optional), emergency contact numbers, hospital preference and other information.”
The Wildwood Police Department states to place the container, or Vial, in the refrigerator. This location is selected because it is a common appliance in homes and the contents of a refrigerator remains undamaged during a fire.
“Law enforcement, fire departments and emergency personnel have been trained to look for the Vial of Life in your refrigerator.”
The form(s) for the Vial of Life can be found at vialoflife.com. The Wildwood Police Department encourages its citizens to complete the form(s) for each member of their household and try to provide as much detailed information as possible in regards to medical history and medications.
The form(s), once completed, should be placed in the Vial, and the Vial should be placed on the top shelf of the refrigerator. Blue decals should then be placed on the refrigerator door and near the front door area of the residence.
“Remember to update the information on your forms when your medications or health changes,” Chief Parmer reminds citizens.
For anyone that has questions or need extra Vials, please contact the Wildwood Police Department at 352-330-1355.
