The Villages Appear Bracing For Battle Over Spanish Springs Apartments

It appears The Villages is bracing for a legal battle over the Spanish Spring Town Square for putting them at the desired location.

Scott Glass Shutts & Bowen LLP in Orlando have reached to the Lady Lake Town Attorney with the matter. They presented their petition to Derek Schroth over the town commission denial of the application. After the 3 to 2 votes in February, the Lady Lake commissioners have turned down the request. They rejected the application and restricted the Scott Glass Shutts & Bowen LLP from putting up to 45 apartments on the second floors of the commercial buildings.

Scott Glass tried to approach with another way out in the friendly email sent to the Lady Lake’s Town attorney, addressing his concern over the issue. Glass indicated that he is open for discussion to amicably solve the conflict without getting into the expensive and time-consuming lawsuit.

At the February meeting, The Villages were invited to present their presentation and commercial information about Augustine’s 1812 house restaurant at Spanish springs. However, it turns out that the presentation was not clear. Attendees felt the talk was fuzzy when the owner expressed that they have roots in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.

Three out of the five commissioners attending the meeting were not convinced with the presented report. They explicitly asserted in the closing statement that they fear The Villages are possibly hiding motives behind their apartment at the square. They also added that The Villages might be facilitating nightly entertainment.
