The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting donations of used and new Christmas decoration until Dec. 7. Some of the decorations they are asking for are artificial Christmas trees, ornaments, lights and yard decorations.
As they receive the items, the sheriff’s office will be taking them to the Sumter County Fairgrounds where volunteers from the Sumter County Fair Board will sort them. The volunteers will also be setting up a store at the fairgrounds where the less fortunate can come and collect the decorations.
The store will be open on Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families will also receive pajamas and toys, and children will be able to meet Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Donators are able to drop off the decorations Monday through Friday at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Villages Annex, located at 8033 CR 466, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
