My name is James F. Drury. I was born in Scranton, Pa., on March 3, 1934, and went to rest on August 26, 2021.
I attended St. Ann’s monastery school in Scranton. After graduation I attended the University of Scranton. I was pre-deceased by my wife, Therese, the mother of my children. Also pre-deceased by our daughter, Karen, our son, Joseph, our grandsons, Timothy and Daniel, and my sister, Marlene.
Surviving are my wife, Frances, and my sons, Kevin, FL; James, OK; John, TX, and my daughter, Colleen, FL.
I was a proud veteran of the Korean War. My career covered thirty years as an air traffic controller beginning at Idlewild airport, N.Y., and ended as an instructor at the FAA Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. After retirement, I taught at the University of Oklahoma. In 1992, I moved with my wife, Therese and daughter, Karen to Lakeland, FL, and to The Villages in 2000. Time now to move on to another paradise. I am a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL.
As a veteran, I was on the Villages Honor Flight # 37 in 2013. The 50th Villages Honor Flight is on October 20, 2021. I helped sponsor that plane flight to Washington, DC, in memory of my daughter, Karen. Although I will miss being on that flight, I will be there in spirit.
