The Kilwins expect their current momentum to continue throughout the season.
The queues of people eager to buy ice cream become longer as the days get hotter. Numerous ice cream-related businesses in the area are witnessing a surge in sales, which is expected to continue into the summer.
Kilwins in Spanish Springs Town Square had its busiest month of the year in March.
“It’s been staying real steady,” said Dale Uptegraft, who, along with her husband Gary, controls the business.
Kilwins offers a variety of desserts and sweets, although ice cream is the most popular.
“When it gets warmer, we sell more ice cream,” Dale said.
Kilwins’ business was slower last year due to the pandemic, but it is much busier this year than it was in 2019.
“I think it’s going to go steady through the summer if it continues like this,” Dale said.
Jessica Moye, Manager of Scooples in Brownwood, stated that the company is doing “better than expected.”
Customers can choose from approximately 30 to 35 different flavors of ice cream at Scooples.
It presently consumes more than 100 three-gallon ice cream tubs a week, according to her. With more family members and children visiting the area during the summer, Moye anticipates similar – if not better – sales than before COVID-19 this season.
