On June 2, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Freedom First Budget at Eisenhower Regional Recreation Complex. According to Gov. DeSantis and several Florida legislative members, this was a record breaking budget by having the largest budget surplus, line item vetos, tax relief and rainy day fund in Florida’s history.
The budget totals $109.9 billion and includes about $1.3 billion in tax relief to Floridians. $400 million will go towards safe school initiatives and mental health initiatives in Florida schools. $100 million will be used to help end the opioid epidemic. All first responders will receive a $1,000 bonus, and according to Gov. DeSantis, this will be the second year that first responders receive this bonus. $1 billion will also go towards water quality and conservation. These were some of the highlights Gov, DeSantis mentioned in his speech.
“Maybe Biden can learn a thing or two looking at Florida,” Gov. DeSantis declared.
