Get a step ahead of spring cleaning by dropping off old household electronics and eligible hazardous waste this Saturday for Sumter County’s Amnesty Drop-Off Day.
Every year residents drop off more than 100,000 pounds of recycled material and more than 50,000 pounds of hazardous material, according to the county. Accepted items include household electronics and rechargeable batteries, pesticides, fungicides, old gas cans, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, and others.
The drop-off day will occur Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lake Okahumpka Park, 6085 E SR 44 in Wildwood.
Items not accepted include: biological/infectious waste, explosives, radioactive waste, empty paint cans and tires.
This event is only welcome to Sumter County residents.
