After agreeing to leave The Villages, a Community Development District 1 administrator resigned.
According to his resignation note, Tom Papin of the Village Rio Grande resigned because he and his wife are moving to South Carolina to deal with “pressing family needs.”
“Family must come first,” he said.
In 2006, Papin and his wife bought a house in The Villages.
Craig Estep, who opted not to run again and instead seek a seat on the Sumter County Commission, was replaced by Papin.
The CDD 1 Board of Supervisors decided to interview applicants for the position, which will most likely be filled by appointment.
