Multiple car clubs joined together to donate over $18,000 to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Kids, Cops and Christmas program.
The program, which is hosted annually, helps children in the area have the opportunity spend time with local police officers with each child also receiving $50 to spend on toys.
For the last few years, various car clubs have used the festive season to host friendly competitions with each other to see who can raise the most money for the program.
The clubs who participated include The Villages Mustang Club, Villages Camaro Club, Villages Chrysler Convertible Club, The Villages Classic Automobile Club and The Villages Convertible Club.
In 2018 alone, the program received $82,000 from donations from across the community.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the program can do so at the sheriff office’s Villages Annex or Wildwood location.
