There’s a common saying, “When you look good, you feel good about yourself, and you can feel good about everything.”
Vickie Langford, of Lady Lake, is very particular about making people look flawless.
She is the proud owner of the Cal’s Barber Shop in Spanish Springs and its locations in Colony Plaza and Brownwood.
Her journey as an entrepreneur started when she bought the old Cal’s in Spanish Springs from her father, who owned it for about 25 years.
“They took down the original location in 2012,” Langford said.
It’s now a family affair as Langford’s sister, Renee Webb, also owns the location in Lake Sumter Landing.
Langford, who has owned Cal’s in Spanish Springs for the last 13 years, said making people feel great about themselves and their appearance is crucial.
Looking good inspires self-confidence, which boosts plenty of other positive actions.
Langford also stresses understanding customer’s choices. It’s vital to hear as many ideas from them as possible to ensure the right look is rendered because people’s appearances are so personal.
“My favorite thing about Cal’s is meeting all the people who come through,” Langford said. “Everyone who comes through is always in such a good mood, ready for a transformation.”
Langford lives closest to Cal’s Barber Shop, and she tries to give equal attention to all three salons.
“A lot of people don’t realize we have full-service locations,” Langford said. “We want to make sure to cater to as many as we can.”
Full-service salons cover cutting and styling as well as perms, highlights, colors.
Not only adults but there are also a surprisingly high number of children appointments in The Villages.
