At the Savannah Center recently, the Atlantic City Boys swept the audience off their feet.
The quartet returned with songs from 1960s rock and roll boy bands, which had the audience singing and dancing.
Just before the show, the off-stage announcer said, “The Atlantic City Boys are four dynamic lead singers who have wowed audiences in Las Vegas, Walt Disney World and, of course, Atlantic City.”
Clack Barrios, Dan Reynolds, Sammy Pawlak and Erik Winger, backed by a four-piece band, harmonized to melodies by the Drifters, The Foundations and especially Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.
“December, 1963 (Oh What a Night!)” was the first song they performed.
With a combination of favorites like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man,” they kept Four Seasons fans delighted. With a Frankie Valli-esque falsetto, Barrios took the lead on a few tracks. And they spiced it up with tunes like the Drifters’ “Save the Last Dance for Me,” The Foundations’ “Build Me Up Buttercup” and The Five Satins’ “In the Still of the Night.”
JoAnn Borwegen, who came with her daughter, Michelle Hull, both Leesburg residents, said, “I saw The Four Seasons in Asbury Park, New Jersey in the late 1960s. It was my time – they were really popular then.”
“That was when music was really good,” Hull said. “You would go to a concert and (they would be) dressed to the nines.”
The Atlantic City Boys asked the audience members to join in with the singing. They also took a break from the stage to serenade a member of the audience with a special performance of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
Alan Rosichin, who attended with Theresa Kress, both of the Village of Sunset Pointe, stated, “It’s a great group. We love them.”
“They’re very talented and very energetic,” Kress said. “This group, they love what they do, and it comes across onstage.”
