Thirteen years ago, the Girl Scout Alumnae founded their annual Pajama and Book Drive in an effort to touch the lives of vulnerable children living in Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. To date, they have collected over 61,000 pajamas and 40,000 books.
Villages resident Mikki Blumberg, originator of the Pajama and Book Drive, stated, “When children receive our gifts of pajamas and books, they experience the thrill and pride of owning something brand new, chosen especially for them. They feel valued. They know they matter – as our pajamas provide much-needed comfort for a good night’s sleep and our books show them there is no end to their imagination as to what they can achieve.”
The Silver Trefoil Girl Scout Alumnae will be collecting pajamas and books until Dec. 12. These items can be dropped off at any At Your Service location.
