After over a year and a half of wait, student-athletes, adult athletes and patients in The Villages who need orthopedic care have a new facility, the Ability Rehabilitation in The Villages.
Ability Rehabilitation is a physical therapy center focused on assisting people to regain their ability to live, work, play along with sports medicine services.
“It’s a really good market,” said Cyrus Doroy, physical therapist and manager of the new Ability Rehabilitation location.
Ability Rehabilitation institute, located in Spanish Plaines Plaza is the first location to open in The Villages, is also home to a team of top-class orthopedic, sports medicine and geriatric clinicians, providing residents and athletes with diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation in one centralized location.
“We target mostly geriatrics, but even then we still see patients who are not exactly geriatrics,” Doroy added.
The franchise has been around for about 20 years and already has about 25 locations in nine counties in Florida.
“It allows us to just better the quality of life for the residents within the area were excited is to have that opportunity to assist with them,” said Paul Lopes, one of the owners of Ability Rehabilitation.
The business has been going well so far with an influx of patients in large numbers. If the Spanish Plaines location continues to perform this way, the plan is to introduce another center in the southern part of The Villages in the future. “We ride the wave growth,” Doroy said.
“We just want to bring a new sense of excitement in the healthcare segment to improve the quality of lives within the community here in The Villages,” Lopes said.
Doroy hopes to accept more patients as snowbirds return in the next several months. The goal for the new location is that it will help with the need for physical therapy services in the area.
By opening this center, it will be a big help for other physical therapy locations dealing with the huge volume of patients as the core aim is to provide quality service, he concluded.
