The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has experienced a ransomeware attack.
The agency responded quickly by cutting off all access from the attacker.
Law enforcement service response was not impacted by the attack, according to a media release.
The sheriff’s office is now working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Digital Services and other IT professionals to investigate the attack.
While the investigation is underway, the sheriff’s office’s access to certain records will be limited.
