Sumter County residents can sign up to receive important notifications through the county’s Alert Sumter Emergency Alert System.
The system provides quick alerts concerning a variety of situations — including severe weather, major road closures, mosquito spraying and evacuations.
Time-sensitive messages can be sent wherever specified, such as home or cell phones, email addresses and text messages. Alerts will be sent out once signed up, regardless of current location.
