When it comes to your pet’s health, there are times when you just can’t wait. UrgentVet, an after-hours veterinary facility in The Villages, launched recently. It’s located at Buffalo Ridge Plaza’s 4056 Wedgewood Lane. Juan Barrera, clinic manager, said, “(We’re) just really excited to be here and be able to help everybody in The Villages.”
UrgentVet is similar to an urgent care center for animals. It will be open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the year.
“UrgentVet is trying to fill that gap between general practice and emergency so that we can offer a more affordable cost for less invasive procedures or less urgent things,” Barrera said.
It is the first location in The Villages to open. Other UrgentVet facilities can be found in Florida and North Carolina.
Barrera wanted to provide a veterinarian close to Villagers so that they wouldn’t have to drive far to receive aid for their pets in an emergency.
“We just found that it was a good market from them,” Barrera said.
UrgentVet’s staff is delighted that the clinic is open, and they’ve been preparing by working at one of the other Central Florida locations.
“I think my staff is incredibly ready,” Barrera said. “It was pretty easy for them to kind of fit into this.”
According to Barrera, a customer came in recently to get their cat tested for urinary difficulties. He stated that they were satisfied with the service and also that the location received positive feedback.
