The final day for the 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is June 10. During the sales tax holiday period, tax is not due on the retail sale of eligible items related to disaster preparedness.
Some of the eligible items include candles, flashlights, batteries, gas or diesel fuel containers, portable radios, coolers, fire extinguishers, bungee cords and portable generators. These are all items people would typically have in a disaster kit or would more than likely use during a natural disaster such as hurricanes and thunderstorms. There are even items for pets that are eligible during this sales tax holiday.
