On May 6, the 15th Annual Hurricane Expo will be held at Savannah Regional Recreation Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of an admission fee, guests are encouraged to bring nonperishable food for the local food banks.
Government agencies and local businesses will be teaching people how to prepare for a storm and receive recovery assistance if a hurricane does hit close to home. Some topics that will be discussed include disaster supply kit information, special needs registration, insurance and inland threats and hazards. Guests are encouraged to bring their weather radio for programing at The Villages Public Safety Department and Sumter County Emergency Management tables.
There will also be a blood drive provided by Oneblood and WVLG radio broadcasting.
